Yesterday, the Orange County Democratic Party and the Orange County Democratic Women held their forum for District 1 and at-large Candidates for the Orange County Board of Commissioners. The event was held at the Lake Hogan Farms club house. We live-tweeted the forum.

March 15th Vote Matters Locally

Casting a vote in North Carolina’s presidential primary that might actually make a difference this year is a good reason to get to the polls on March 15th, but you can’t just stop there.

Choosing party nominees for a number of statewide races to be decided in November is one thing, but for the Orange County Board of Commissioners races this year, the Democratic primary is the competitive election that matters, as no Republicans filed to run.

This Week in Orange Politics: December 7 - 13

As the holiday season sets in, many of Orange County's public bodies are taking a break. This week, only the county commissioners are meeting. They'll be electing their chair and vice chair later today. All of the other boards are off this week.

This Week in Orange Politics: November 23-29

Though it's a short week for the holiday this week, three of Orange County's elected boards will be meeting. Both the Chapel Hill Town Council and the county commissioners will discuss several land use ordinance amendments, and the Carrboro alderfolks will receive updates on policing and the Lloyd property development.

Business Meeting: November 24th, 2015, at 7:30 pm, Carrboro Town Hall
- The Board will hold a public hearing on amendments to the town's snow and ice removal ordinance.
- The Board will receive updates on the Lloyd property mediation sessions, the CVS properties, and policing issues.

This Week in Orange Politics: November 16 - 22

With the elections behind us, Orange County's boards and commissions are getting back to work. The Carrboro Alderpersons' meeting may shape up to be an exciting one, with some in the business community requesting more information from the IFC about it's planned Food First Community Kitchen. The Chapel Hill Town Council will review several concepts and hold public hearings on changes to the LUMO and a special use permit, while the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school board will discuss how to use its assigned reserve funds. The county commissions will talk living wage and consider entering into a new interlocal agreement for "Launch Chapel Hill"

Both the Hillsborough Board of Commissioners and the county school board are on break this week. The Assembly of Governments meeting originally scheduled for November 19 has been cancelled.
