Hillsborough Town Board
A new month will bring new and newly re-elected officials to Carrboro and Chapel Hill, and on the Chapel Hill-Carrboro School Board. In addition to the swearing in of new members, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school board will consider approving new courses, while the Hillsborough Town Board considers rezoning more than 1,300 acres south od downtown near the intersection of I-85 and N.C. 86.
As we welcome new elected officials, the process will also being for selecting new members for the county commission. Candidate filing opens Tuesday.

It'll be a busy week across Orange County this week. The Carrboro Alderfolks will discuss bicycle-friendliness and the Lloyd Farm propery mediation process, while the Chapel Hill Town Council will get an update on UNC-related development. Both school boards will review the student performance data recently released by the state, while the Hillsborough Town Board will get an update on the Colonial Inn. The county commmissioners will meet with the Mebane City Council on public transportation and the Buckhorn EDD, and will get an update on Southern Branch Library in a serperate meeting.
CHALT and the Sierra Club/Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce/WCHL will hold candidate forums for Chapel Hill candidates.
Nearing the end of the summer break and after the long Labor Day holiday weekend, only a couple of local governing boards will meet this week. Both the county commissioners and the Carrboro Board of Alderpersons will hold work sessions.

Some of the elected bodies are still on summer hiatus, but the Carrboro Board of Alderpersons, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro School Board are back this week.
With most of the county's budgets adopted things have started to slow down for the summmer, but there are still several public meetings of note acrosss the area this week. The Carrboro Alderfolks will talk police body camera policy and get an update on the Arts and Innovation Center, while the Chapel Hill Town Council will continue a public hearing on the potential 2015 bond. The Hillsborought Town Board will discuss a study on the attractiveness of the town, whil the county commissioners will review the county manager's performance.
Both of the county's school boards are on break this week.

Though it’s a short week because of the Memorial Day holiday, Orange County’s public bodies will be busy. The Carrboro Alderfolks will get public comment on opening East Weaver Street to pedestrians, while the county commissioners will ask for feedback on the budget for the upcoming year and several zoning amendments and permits.
The Chapel Hill Town Council will discuss a potential 2015 general obligation bond referendum and the Community Home Trust interlocal agreement, while the Hillsborough Town Board talks budget and the county school board reviews an IT overhaul effort.

The county commissioners, Chapel Hill Town Council and Carrboro alderfolks will all tackle their budgets for the upcoming fiscal year this week, and the later two groups will both be talking about the Durham-Orange light rail project as well.
Elsewhere in the county, the Hillsborough town commissioners will discuss parking and food trucks, while the county school board gets an update on the family success alliance and continues discussions on its facilities assesment.
The Chapel Hill-Carrboro School Board is off this week.

Two big items are the agenda this week for Orange County’s governing bodies. Tonight, the Chapel Hill Town Council will meet to discuss potentially filling its vacant seat, and on Tuesday, the county commissioners will meet with both of the county’s school boards to discuss budgets for the upcoming fiscal year and a potential bond for capital needs in 2016.
Elsewhere across the county, the Carrboro Alderfolks will talk about rezoning the Triem Lot and the Chapel Hill Town Council will consider the potential 2016 bond and Obey Creek. The Hillsborough Town Board will will review applications for an affordable housing project, while the county school board will discuss its IT operations.
